What is a WRP brake rotor made of?
The floating friction section of the disc is laser cut from heat treated, premium grade stainless steel for high strength and corrosion resistance. The central section uses CNC machined 6082-T6 aluminium: a grade of aluminium used for its rust resistance properties and heat treated for good strength despite the light weight.

Floating Disc design:
On a floating design, rather than a solid metal disc, the disc is composed of a centre piece and an outer friction section.
- The two-piece design gives some lateral movement in the friction section, which allows better centring within a fixed caliper.
- The steel friction section has room to expand under heat, preventing disc warp (which can occur in solid discs).
Wavy discs design (or contoured disc design):
The wavy design on WRP pads isn’t just for show; it is computer designed to maximise heat dissipation, preventing brake fade.
The ‘holes’ in the stainless steel, while keeping weight to a minimum, constantly clean the brake pads and keep water away from the friction surface.
The result is a brake disc that both looks trick and gives optimum braking performance.
